Our verdict
A New York diamond and engagement-ring seller founded in 1999, with GIA- or IGI-graded diamonds, free insured FedEx shipping and returns, and a lifetime warranty on engagement and wedding rings — but its pages disagree on return deadlines and exclusions, other jewelry has no warranty, and its terms put the risk of loss on you once a parcel ships.

The bottom line. Ritani was founded in New York in 1999 ‘by a family of jewelers’4,6, on a domain registered in 20007; Google lists Ritani at 3 Barker Ave in White Plains, New York, with 4.5 stars from 863 reviews8. It says its diamonds are graded by GIA or IGI1, ships for free with a signature and insurance2, sends a prepaid, fully insured FedEx label for returns9, and gives engagement rings and wedding bands a lifetime manufacturing warranty2. The store runs on Shopify and takes cards, PayPal, Affirm and Klarna1,2,10. It loses points because its pages disagree on returns — 30 days from shipment on the returns page, 30 days from delivery and only 15 for loose diamonds in the terms of sale5,9 — and on which engraved or custom pieces can come back2,9; each customer gets two returns a year4; the terms put the risk of loss on you once Ritani hands a parcel to the carrier5; jewelry other than engagement and wedding rings has no warranty4; and the site names no legal entity1,2,4,5,6,9,11,12. Trustpilot shows an ‘Average’ score from 594 reviews13, and forum posts describe losing diamonds after ordering from a ‘virtual inventory’, or being told a diamond had to be imported14.

Who is behind Ritani
Ritani says it was founded in New York in 1999 ‘by a family of jewelers’ and that its pieces are made to order in New York4,6; its FAQ mentions its White Plains factory4. The site says it is operated by ‘Ritani’ in the State of New York5 and gives 3 Barker Avenue, White Plains, NY 10601 as its address for copyright notices5, but on the pages we saved it names no company form and no owners or managers1,2,4,5,6,9,11,12. The BBB lists the business as Ritani, LLC, with Mr. Joel Klein as President/CEO15, and JCK has quoted him as Ritani’s CEO18. Wikipedia calls Ritani a private company and says that in 2012 Cantor Fitzgerald invested $15 million in it after the Julius Klein Group sold its stake19. The ritani.com domain dates from August 20007.
On orders of $1,500 or more, Ritani offers a free in-person preview: a ‘Diamond Pro’ shows you the piece at a private office near you, and you’re charged only if you keep it3; the preview has to take place within 7 days of the order reaching the Diamond Pro3. Its About page says it has partnered with ‘hundreds of local jewelers’, where an online order can be picked up6, and that it built a factory to sort and cut diamonds in Windhoek, Namibia, in 20086.

Returns & exchanges
Ritani’s returns page accepts returns and exchanges of eligible US orders within 30 days of shipment from its facility9. Its terms of sale count from delivery instead — 30 days for engagement rings, jewelry and wedding rings, but only 15 days for loose diamonds5 — and for an order you previewed, the 30 days start when it reaches the Diamond Pro3. Ritani provides a prepaid, fully insured FedEx return label, and parcels sent any other way are sent back9, and FedEx has to scan yours within 7 days of the label being issued9. The FAQ says returns cost nothing and include free return insurance, within the US only4. Each customer gets two returns or exchanges a year4,9.
Pieces must be new, unworn and unaltered, with their packaging and documents, and sent from within the US9. We found no restocking fee1,2,4,5,9, but $200 is deducted from the refund if a diamond’s grading certificate is missing2, Ritani may charge you if oversized packaging costs it extra shipping9, and shipping charges aren’t refunded9. Refunds can take up to 2 weeks after the return arrives; card refunds are submitted within 3 business days9.
What can’t be returned depends on the page. The returns page lists engraved, personalized, custom and special-order pieces — except engagement rings and wedding bands — and items marked final sale9. The services page first says custom eternity rings, custom and engraved jewelry and all special orders can’t be returned or exchanged, with no exception2, and elsewhere that only engraved engagement-ring settings and wedding bands in gold or platinum can be2; an engraved diamond is final sale4. Returns from Canada are accepted for orders placed up to March 28, 20259.
Ritani’s pages give different deadlines — 30 days from shipment, 30 days from delivery, or 15 days from delivery for loose diamonds5,9 — and disagree on whether engraved or custom engagement rings can come back2,9. We score the 30-day window that every page gives for rings and jewelry, and take points off for the conflicts4,5,9. If you buy a loose diamond, count on 15 days from delivery5, and ask customer service in writing what you can return before you order an engraved or custom piece.

Shipping & delivery
US shipping is free: FedEx Overnight on orders of $1,000 or more, and FedEx 2 Day below that, with overnight for $24.952. Every order needs a signature and is insured ‘from our door to yours’2,4; product pages advertise ‘Free overnight shipping · Fully insured’, even on an $87 pair of studs20. Engagement and wedding rings take from three days to two weeks to arrive, depending on the style4. Orders to Canada go by FedEx International Priority, and you pay the shipping plus any duties and taxes2. Orders over $1,000 can only go to an address your card issuer has on file2, and packages are discreetly marked2.
Ritani’s terms of sale, however, say each order is a shipment contract and that the risk of loss and title pass to you when Ritani hands the parcel to the carrier5, and we found no procedure for a parcel that goes missing2,4,5,9.
The services page and FAQ promise insured delivery with a signature2,4, while the terms of sale put the risk of loss on you once the parcel is with the carrier5. We score the shipping as offered, and the lost-parcel item on the terms, which are worse for you. If a parcel doesn’t arrive, contact Ritani at once and keep the tracking record.

Warranty & care
Ritani gives a free lifetime manufacturing warranty on engagement rings and wedding bands2; its FAQ says other jewelry is not covered4. For a claim, Ritani sends a prepaid label, inspects the ring, and, if it confirms a defect, decides whether to repair or replace it and pays for the return shipment4; if the damage isn’t a defect, it tells you what the repair will cost, and shipping both ways is added — $35 one way in the US4. Wear and tear isn’t covered, including worn prongs and stones lost through wear4, and chipped or cracked diamonds have to be reported as soon as the ring arrives4. The warranty is void if anyone other than Ritani or an approved location works on the ring, or if you haven’t registered it on ritani.com2,4; the FAQ says you can register it at any time4.
The services page lists free stone tightening, lifetime ring cleaning with an engagement ring, and free rhodium plating once a year if you pay the shipping2. The FAQ puts that shipping at $35 one way from the US, with Ritani paying for the return, and says servicing at its New York factory is free4; a partner jeweler can do the work by appointment, but fees may apply there and Ritani doesn’t cover them4. Engagement and wedding rings can be resized once for free in the first year, with shipping covered both ways in the US and Canada — but not eternity bands or rings in alternative metals2,4, and fashion rings can’t be resized at all4. Other repairs are quoted before any work is done2.
You can add a JM Care Plan, offered by a member of the Jewelers Mutual Group, at checkout: a one-time purchase for 3 years or life that doesn’t cover manufacturer defects4. A Ritani diamond can be traded in for a 100% credit toward one worth at least 3.5 times as much, though lab-grown diamonds can’t2, and the Ritani Reclaim program buys GIA-certified natural diamonds of at least 1 carat for cash or store credit21.

What Ritani sells & what it costs
Ritani sells natural and lab-grown diamonds, engagement rings, wedding bands and fine jewelry4, and says it has over 90,000 diamonds in its inventory6. Its FAQ says every diamond is graded by an independent agency and comes with a grading certificate and a free appraisal4; the home page names GIA and IGI as the labs1, and the About page adds AGS6. Lab-grown diamonds come with a third-party certificate except in preset lab-diamond jewelry4; the lab-grown solitaire ring we checked is IGI certified and arrives with an IGI Jewelry Evaluation Certificate17.
Product names and details say whether a diamond is natural or lab-grown and give its total carat weight, color and clarity22,23, and some pieces let you choose either kind10. Metal is given as karat and color — 14kt or 18kt gold — or simply ‘Platinum’, without the alloy or the platinum’s purity10,17,20,22,23; 18kt settings can be made nickel-free for $100 more4. The appraisal comes ‘from an unbiased certified gemologist’, who isn’t named1,2,4,6.
Ritani says it uses the Kimberley Process and that all its diamonds, gemstones and precious metals are ethically sourced6. Its fine-jewelry menu also lists Ettika, Brosway and Ana Luisa1; we didn’t check those pieces. The pieces we checked included children’s gold studs for $87, a 1-carat lab-grown solitaire for $1,115 and a natural-diamond wedding band for $2,38617,20,22. Ritani shows its own cost, fulfillment costs and markup for its diamonds6, and its FAQ offers a price match on the same diamond, with the same grading report, sold elsewhere4; its services page promises only to ‘attempt’ to find a similar diamond for less2.

What customers say
Google lists Ritani at 3 Barker Ave in White Plains as a jeweler rated 4.5 from 863 reviews8, and WeddingWire shows 4.3 out of 524. Trustpilot is lower: an ‘Average’ TrustScore, 3.5 out of 5 from 594 reviews13,25, and Ritani has replied to half of the negative reviews there26. The BBB profile of Ritani, LLC is accredited and shows 6 complaints in the last 3 years, 2 of them in the last 12 months27; its complaints page quotes the line ‘The wedding band was refunded per your request’27. We’re still checking the Trustpilot score and the BBB grade by hand.
On Reddit and the PriceScope forum, buyers praise the diamonds and the return policy — ‘the diamond is great and the setting is good quality (but not great)’, ‘very reputable’28,29 — and one says Ritani covered the return shipping when they bought two stones to return one30. The complaint we saw most often is about stock: one buyer says they ‘lost a few diamonds after ordering’ because it’s ‘a virtual inventory’, another was told after ordering that the diamond had to be imported, and a Reddit user says Ritani doesn’t hold the stones on site14,16. Another says it doesn’t return calls or emails and that live chat is the best bet16, and one PriceScope poster says a 4-carat lab-diamond return went unanswered and unrefunded31. Yelp’s summary of its White Plains reviews highlights attentive service, selection and pricing32.

Ritani FAQ
Is Ritani legit?
Yes, it’s an established seller: founded in New York in 19994, with an accredited BBB profile as Ritani, LLC27 and a 4.5 rating from 863 Google reviews for its White Plains listing8. It says its diamonds are graded by GIA or IGI1, and shipping and returns are free and insured2,9. Our score is held back by conflicting return terms5,9, a warranty that covers only engagement and wedding rings4, terms that put the risk of loss on you once a parcel ships5, and an ‘Average’ Trustpilot score13.
Who owns Ritani?
The site doesn’t say: it names no company and no owners or managers1,2,4,5,6,9,11,12, and describes Ritani as founded in 1999 ‘by a family of jewelers’6. The BBB lists the business as Ritani, LLC, with Mr. Joel Klein as President/CEO15. Wikipedia calls it a private company and says that in 2012 Cantor Fitzgerald invested $15 million in it after the Julius Klein Group sold its stake19.
Where is Ritani located, and does it have stores?
Ritani is based in White Plains, New York: its terms give 3 Barker Avenue there as its address, and its FAQ mentions its White Plains factory4,5; Google lists that address as a jeweler8. On orders of $1,500 or more it offers a free preview, where a Diamond Pro shows you the piece at a private office near you and you pay only if you keep it3. Its About page also says it works with hundreds of local jewelers, where you can pick up an online order6.
Are Ritani diamonds real and certified?
Ritani’s FAQ says every diamond is real, graded by an independent agency, and comes with a grading certificate and a free appraisal4; it names GIA and IGI as its labs1. It sells both natural and lab-grown diamonds and says which is which on its product pages4,22,23. Preset lab-diamond jewelry is the exception to the certificate4, though a lab-grown solitaire ring we checked comes with an IGI certificate17.
What is Ritani's return policy?
Its returns page gives 30 days from shipment for eligible US orders, with a prepaid, fully insured FedEx label9. Its terms of sale count from delivery instead, and give loose diamonds only 15 days5. Each customer gets two returns or exchanges a year4. Engraved, custom and special-order pieces can’t be returned — on the returns page, except engagement rings and wedding bands2,9 — and a missing diamond certificate costs $2002.
Does Ritani have a lifetime warranty?
Yes, for engagement rings and wedding bands: a free lifetime manufacturing warranty2. Other jewelry isn’t covered4, and neither are wear and tear or stones lost through wear4. The warranty is void if someone other than Ritani or an approved location works on the ring, or if you haven’t registered it2,4.
Does Ritani resize rings?
Engagement and wedding rings can be resized once for free within the first year, with shipping covered both ways in the US and Canada; eternity bands and rings in alternative metals are excluded4. Fashion rings can’t be resized4.
Does Ritani price match?
For diamonds: its FAQ offers a price match when the same diamond, with the same grading report and certificate number, is sold elsewhere4. Its services page promises only to ‘attempt to find a similar diamond at a lower price’2.
How long does Ritani take to ship?
An engagement or wedding ring takes from three days to two weeks to arrive, depending on the style4. US shipping is free — FedEx Overnight on orders of $1,000 or more, FedEx 2 Day below that — with a signature and insurance2.
Does Ritani ship to Canada?
Yes, by FedEx International Priority; you pay the shipping and any duties and taxes2. Its returns page says returns from Canada are accepted for orders placed up to March 28, 20259, and free resizing covers customers in the US and Canada2.
Does Ritani offer financing?
Yes, through Affirm and Klarna1. You can also split a payment across up to 3 credit cards, and paying by bank wire gets a 2% discount2.
How is Ritani so cheap?
Ritani’s own explanation is that it doesn’t pay commissioned salespeople17, and it shows its cost, fulfillment costs and markup for its diamonds6. A Reddit commenter thinks it ‘prices very aggressively and hopes to make it up on the settings’34, and a PriceScope buyer who ‘lost a few diamonds after ordering’ calls it ‘a virtual inventory’14.
How can I contact Ritani customer service?
Call 1-888-974-8264 (1-888-9RITANI) or email [email protected]11; returns can also be started by live chat9. Its hours (Eastern) are 9 am to 10 pm Monday to Thursday, 9 am to 5 pm on Friday and noon to 7 pm on Sunday; it’s closed on Saturday11.
Where is Ritani jewelry made, and how long has it been in business?
Ritani says its pieces are made to order in New York6, and its FAQ mentions its White Plains factory4. It was founded in New York in 19994.
