Our verdict

A certified B Corp in Austin, Texas, selling fair-trade fashion jewelry made by artisan groups abroad, mostly under $100 — but the metal pieces we checked are plated brass, bronze or steel, the defect promise lasts only 180 days, and its own pages disagree on returns.

We may earn a commission if you buy through this link. It never changes the score. How we make money

Best for

  • Gifts and statement pieces under $100, if buying under fair-trade terms from a certified B Corp matters to you1,2

Not ideal for

  • Anyone who wants solid gold or sterling silver: the metal pieces we checked are plated brass, bronze or steel3,4,5
  • Buyers with a nickel allergy who want a guarantee6

The bottom line. Noonday Collection was founded in 2010 by Jessica Honegger7 and has an office address in Austin, Texas8; B Lab’s directory lists Noonday Holdings LLC as a certified B Corp since November 2016, with an impact score of 99.82. It publishes how it pays its artisan suppliers — prices set to Fair Trade standards, half paid months in advance7 — and names the metal and plating on its product pages3,4. Unworn pieces can be returned for a refund within 30 days of shipment, or for a gift card up to 90 days9, and a parcel lost or damaged in transit is replaced or refunded9. It doesn’t score higher because its free replacement for construction defects lasts 180 days and excludes wear9, and its product-care page gives a different 120-day limit6; its returns policy doesn’t say who pays return postage10; the same care page invites you to wear a piece and return it free within 90 days, which the returns policy doesn’t allow6,9; shipping insurance isn’t mentioned9,10,11,12; and we found no Trustpilot or BBB profile to score13.

What we like

  • A certified B Corp since 2016, listed in B Lab’s directory2
  • Publishes its terms with artisan suppliers: Fair Trade prices, half paid in advance7
  • Refund within 30 days of shipment, or a gift card up to 90 days9
  • Parcels lost or damaged in transit are replaced or refunded9

Watch out for

  • Free replacement for construction defects only within 180 days — 120 days on another page6,9
  • Doesn’t say who pays return postage, except for size returns10
  • Its product-care page invites you to wear a piece and return it free within 90 days; the returns policy takes only unworn pieces6,9
  • Plated base metals, no plating thickness given; some pieces contain nickel, which it doesn’t test for3,4,5,6,16
  • A ring sold as ‘Sienna Jade’ lists aventurine as its stone15
  • Free shipping only over $100; insurance isn’t mentioned9,10,11,12

Who is behind Noonday Collection

Noonday’s story page says Jessica Honegger started it in 2010, selling handmade goods by Jalia Matovu, an artisan she had met in Uganda, in the US to raise money for her son’s adoption7; B Lab’s profile adds that she began with a home ‘Trunk Show’ and soon partnered with Travis Wilson2. The noondaycollection.com domain dates from September 201014. The site names the business only as ‘Noonday Collection’, at 1825 E. 38 1/2 Street in Austin, Texas8,17, and its orders ship from the Austin office11. B Lab’s B Corp directory lists the company as Noonday Holdings LLC of Texas, certified since November 2016 with an overall impact score of 99.8, where 80 qualifies2; the site itself says it’s proud to be a B Corp12.

The pieces are made by artisan businesses abroad, and Noonday says it has paid artisans over $30 million7. It sets prices with them to Fair Trade standards, pays half the cost months in advance and the rest when the goods arrive7. Nordstrom also carries the brand19.

Ambassadors, trunk shows and the MLM question
Noonday started with a home trunk show2; a 2015 magazine profile describes Ambassadors showcasing its accessories at home ‘instead of cookware’20, and its returns page still covers orders paid to an Ambassador by check9. Posts in Facebook groups about Noonday describe it as a member of the Direct Selling Association21, and commenters on Reddit’s r/antiMLM treat it as one — ‘less bad than some other MLMs’22. What its site offers visitors today is a referral program — 15% off for a friend’s first order and for you, with ‘no selling, hosting, or inventory required’23. For a shopper, the store terms below are the same either way.

Returns & exchanges

Unworn pieces in new condition can be returned within 30 days of the original shipment date for a refund to your original payment, or a Noonday gift card if you prefer; between 30 and 90 days you get a gift card only, and after 90 days returns aren’t accepted unless the piece has a construction defect9. The top of the returns page counts the 30 days from purchase instead9. You start a return through the contact form, and support emails you a return number (RMA) and instructions9. The policy doesn’t say who pays the postage; a free return label is promised only when you’re returning a piece for a new size10. Original shipping charges aren’t refunded9, and we found no restocking fee6,9,10,18.

Gift cards, Final Sale items and coffee can’t be returned9. Exchanges are only for a new size, within 30 days, with tags on and as stock allows — not for another color or shape9. If a sale starts within 7 days after you buy, Noonday adjusts the price as a gift card9. If you paid an Ambassador by check, the refund goes through the Ambassador9.

Two versions of the returns policy
The product-care page encourages you to wear a piece for a day or two and, if it isn’t comfortable, return it within 90 days ‘at no cost to you’6. The returns policy accepts only unworn pieces in new condition, refunds only within 30 days, and doesn’t promise free return postage9,10. We score the returns policy, the version worse for the buyer; if a piece irritates your skin, ask support which rule applies before you send it back.

Shipping & delivery

Standard shipping in the US costs $7.95 and takes 3–5 business days; express costs $19.95 and takes 211. The site banner offers free shipping on orders over $10012, although the shipping page itself says you pay a flat rate on every order, however large11. Orders ship in 1–2 business days by FedEx or USPS with tracking, and typically arrive within 10 business days of ordering11. Noonday ships only to the US and APO/FPO addresses11, and your card is charged in full when you order11.

We found no mention of shipping insurance or a signature9,10,11,12. If a piece is lost or damaged in transit, tell Noonday within 30 days of shipment and it will send a replacement or refund your payment9.

Warranty & care

Noonday’s ‘180-Day Product Promise’ replaces a piece with a construction defect at no cost within 180 days of shipment9 — for example a clasp that doesn’t work, jump rings or chains that don’t close, or a piece that differs significantly from its published dimensions9. Damage from normal wear, accidents or misuse isn’t covered, and neither are lost items9. The product-care page gives a shorter limit for the same replacement, 120 days6. We found no repair, re-plating or resizing service6,9,11; instead, the product-care page explains how to clean and store each material, and warns not to use a polishing cloth on plated pieces6.

180 days or 120?
The returns page promises a free replacement for construction defects within 180 days of shipment9; the product-care page says 120 days6. Either way it’s under a year, so the score is the same. If a clasp or chain fails, report it before 120 days to be safe.

What Noonday sells & what it costs

Product pages name the base metal and the plating: 14k gold-plated stainless steel, silver-plated bronze or brass, gold-plated brass3,4,5. We found no plating thickness3,4,5,6,16. Noonday says many of its pieces from India and Ethiopia contain mixed metals, including nickel, and that it doesn’t test for nickel6; it does have new metal pieces tested for lead and cadmium each season, and says a few of its recycled-metal products don’t meet California’s lower lead limits under Proposition 656.

On the product pages we checked, most materials are labeled plainly — glass beads, tagua seed cut to look like faceted gemstones, mother-of-pearl, freshwater pearls, opal5,24,25,26,27 — though one pair of earrings lists just ‘Pearls’25. A ring sold as the ‘Sienna Jade Ring’, with a ‘green oval jade’ in its description, lists ‘Aventurine (Green Jade)’ in its materials15: aventurine is a form of quartzite28, while jade is nephrite or jadeite29. Each product page we checked names the country where the piece was made15. We found no diamonds in its product feed1,5,12,15,27.

Its product feed lists 382 products, 251 of them jewelry, alongside bags, clothing, home goods and coffee1. Jewelry costs $6 to $148, and half of it $60 or less; only about 1 product in 10 costs $100 or more1. Rings come in sizes 5 to 91. Beyond its terms with artisan suppliers7, Noonday says its partner groups keep products free from child labor7, and that no animals are killed for its horn, bone and leather, which are post-consumer materials6.

What customers say

We found no Trustpilot profile for noondaycollection.com in Google results13 and no BBB profile; we’re still checking both by hand. Much of what Google shows for Noonday is Facebook pages and groups, several of them run by its Ambassadors; we don’t count those as reviews.

On Reddit’s r/antiMLM, one commenter criticizes Noonday’s sales tactics and calls the jewelry ‘overpriced’, while adding that it’s ‘NOT a piece of crap jewelry’30; another finds it ‘less bad than some other MLMs’ and the pieces ‘cute but, as always, pricey’22. A 2016 fashion blog post calls it ‘cool girl jewelry for a really awesome cause’31. We found no recurring complaints about delivery, refunds or defects in what we read.
