Unlike Signet’s other chains we’ve checked, Jared names the lab behind its ‘certified’ diamonds — Gemological Science International (GSI)^1,9. Diamond purchases come with a Lifetime Diamond & Gemstone Guarantee: a diamond, emerald, ruby or sapphire that chips, breaks or falls out in normal wear is replaced free, mountings are guaranteed against defects for 12 months, and carat weight and gold content are guaranteed^2,10. Its stores clean any jewelry for free⁴, and you can pay with cards, PayPal or Affirm⁴. It lands in the ‘caution’ range mainly because of returns: you get 30 days⁴, but you ship the item back at your own cost, insured for its full price, and Jared isn’t responsible for a return it doesn’t receive³. Diamond purchases come with Jared’s Lifetime Diamond & Gemstone Guarantee¹⁰: Jared replaces, free of charge, any diamond, emerald, ruby or sapphire that chips, breaks or falls out of its setting in normal wear²; for 12 months it guarantees the mounting against defects in material or workmanship²; and it guarantees the carat weight of the stone and the gold content of the mounting². We found no defect warranty for jewelry without those stones^2,3,4,6,10.

For the metal, Jared sells optional Lifetime Protection Plans, which exclude diamonds and gemstones¹⁰; a plan is bought separately and can be refunded within 30 days, minus any services used⁸. It also offers jewelry insurance through Lavalier, at ‘typically 1-2%’ of the jewelry’s value¹⁰. Stores repair any fine jewelry, wherever it was bought¹⁵; we found no free repairs or resizing outside a plan or warranty^2,4,10,15.

Jared’s sitemap lists at least 20,000 product pages²⁰, including previously owned jewelry²¹. In the 15 product pages our sampler read, prices ran up to $40,000 for a Jared Atelier emerald bracelet, with previously owned engagement rings from $671.75²⁰.

Certified diamonds — natural, lab-grown, and in the Jared Atelier line — are ‘independently certified by Gemological Science International’^1,9,22; we found no GIA, IGI or AGS reports on the pages we checked^1,2,4,9,22, and no appraisal included with a purchase^1,9.

Product pages say what each stone is: ‘Lab-Grown Diamond’, ‘Lab-Created Ruby’ and ‘Natural Garnet’ appear in names and details^9,23,24. Gold is described by karat, such as 14K, without the alloy¹, and semi-solid chains are named as such²⁵; gold-plated silver pieces don’t give the plating thickness²⁶, and rhodium finishes carry a note that they may wear off¹.
