Chow Sang Sang traces itself to a goldsmith shop founded in Guangzhou in 1934 by Chow Fang Pu; the family opened in Hong Kong in 1948², and the company has been listed on the Hong Kong stock exchange since 1973². The online store is run by Chow Sang Sang Jewellery Company Limited⁵, with an address in Cheung Sha Wan, Kowloon⁶; the parent is Chow Sang Sang Holdings International Limited, incorporated in Bermuda⁹. The group’s stock-exchange filings name Gerald, Winston and Genevieve Chow among its directors¹⁰. Its terms are governed by Hong Kong law¹¹, and where the English and Chinese versions of the return policy differ, the Chinese one prevails³.

Customer service answers by phone on weekdays, Hong Kong time⁶, by email⁶, and on WhatsApp and live chat every day⁶. The shipping help page gives a different number for damaged parcels, +852 2912 3123⁵.

Returns & cancellations

An online order can be returned within 7 days of delivery, unworn and in its original packaging³, and Chow Sang Sang alone decides whether it qualifies³. Gold ornaments bought online — the gold it sells by weight⁸ — can’t be returned, nor can engraved, altered or custom pieces or some third-party brands³. The help page says international customers get a ‘free return service’ by courier collection³, but the full policy says you return items at your own cost, including shipping, duties and taxes⁹; plan on paying. The refund covers the item price, not the original shipping or duties, and can take up to three weeks³.

Faulty or damaged pieces can be returned or exchanged within 7 days, and then Chow Sang Sang pays the return shipping⁹. Orders can be cancelled until they’re dispatched, and engraved ones until engraving starts⁵.

Shipping & delivery

The US is one of more than 30 destinations⁵. Orders are dispatched within two business days, with tracking⁵; the cost and delivery time to the US appear only when you pick the destination in the help page’s table⁵. Every package is insured against theft and damage until it’s delivered⁵. Prices don’t include US duties and taxes, which the recipient pays⁵.

Warranty & aftercare

Chow Sang Sang offers a one-year warranty on jewelry, but only for goods bought at its Hong Kong stores⁴. Its free cleaning, inspection and first resize are likewise for Hong Kong, in its stores⁴. For an online order delivered to the US, the only protection we found is the 7-day window for faulty or damaged pieces⁹.

What Chow Sang Sang sells

Chow Sang Sang sells 24k and 18k gold, platinum and diamond jewelry; it describes 18k as 75% gold without naming the other metals, and platinum as PT950 or PT900¹. Gold sold by weight⁸ costs the weight times the day’s gold price plus 2%, plus a labour charge⁵, and the company has run an accredited gold-testing laboratory since 1990². Its diamond page says most diamonds come with GIA, IGI or De Beers reports⁷ and are sourced under the Kimberley Process⁷; no appraisal is offered^3,4,5,7. Product listings didn’t open for our reader, so we couldn’t check prices or individual product pages.

Payment

Chow Sang Sang takes Visa, Mastercard, American Express, PayPal, Apple Pay and Google Pay⁵, and charges in Hong Kong dollars⁵. There are no installment plans^5,11, and the card processor isn’t named.

What customers say

Trustpilot lists only two reviews for chowsangsang.com¹³. On Reddit and PurseForum it’s called a reputable Hong Kong jeweler, with one member noting that a 24k bracelet dents easily^14,15. A Facebook news page reported that a ‘pure gold’ pendant allegedly tested as low as 64% gold in a private test¹⁶; we haven’t been able to verify it. BBB’s only profile under the name belongs to ‘Chow Sang Sang Jewellers’ in Vancouver, which we couldn’t link to this company¹⁷.
